VA Briefing 145 – The future of cheques
The Payments Council has set a target date of 2018 to close the cheque clearing system in the UK. If this closure goes ahead, it will mean that it
will no longer be possible to make or receive payments using cheques after this date. This briefing summarises discussions that took place at the Future of Cheques workshop, organised by Voluntary Arts and run by the Payments Council in March 2011, which was attended by 20 amateur arts and crafts groups and umbrella organisations.
