A work in progress...

As you may have noticed, this directory is incomplete. There’s no tuba or macrame or washboard playing ... at least not yet! There are so many hundreds of amateur art and craft forms (and their variations) alive today that attempting to produce a ‘complete’ directory would take decades and thousands of pounds.

Rather than wait until a ‘complete’ version could be produced , we decided to publish this directory as a ‘work in progress’, so that people can suggest ideas and content for future editions. New technology means that this method of publishing is a lot more feasible than it would have been ten years ago. Digital printing and the internet make short print runs and electronic publication a lot more cost-effective.

So if there is an art or craft form that you know of, and would like to see included, contact us with the details, preferably including a national point of contact for that art or craft form. You may be in a position to write the content yourself, in which case we will send you a brief on what is required. Or you may be able to suggest someone else better placed to write a summary of the art or craft form.
