Monitoring and Evaluating your Arts Event - Why Bother? A book of ideas and encouragement (2004) (VAW publication) This guide aims to suggest how arts organisations can begin to monitor their work, evaluate what they do, and share results with partners, funders and their own workers. We feel that M&E is not only increasingly important, but can be creative and
enjoyable too. For the best results, try to build monitoring into your project at the start, and treat it as an integral part of the project.
The pack is designed for you to pull out and use what you want at any time. You may need to know different things when monitoring one project than you will in the next, and may have different resources. Above all, this pack is far from complete – there are more techniques than we can mention here. We’re
hoping that you’ll treat this as a starting point, and integrate our material and ideas with your own. Available from Voluntary Arts Wales. T: 01938 556 455 or email: sioned@vaw.org.uk
Doing it Ourselves - Learning to Challenge Social Exclusion through the Voluntary Arts
This report, a 76 page fully illustrated book, tells the story of the voluntary arts through 14 projects that contribute to social inclusion. The report suggests that the voluntary arts present an extremely cost effective opportunity to take government policies such as social cohesion and life long learning to socially excluded groups and individuals.
One aim of the research was to provide guidance on the tools and training which may be needed by volunteer led groups to enable them to fulfil their potential as agencies which address social exclusion. Another was to identify existing resources which could be more widely used, or detail the need for new forms of support.
As it is a large document we have broken it down into 4 sections for downloading:
