As part of their East Asian Spring event, Central and Cecil are hosting a Bon-Odori (Japanese Folk Dance) workshop led by artists Hibiki Ichikawa and Akari Mochizuki.

Bon-Odori is a kind of marching summer dance performed at Japanese festivals and can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities. The workshop is also suitable for seated participants as the dance style is predominantly known for its beautiful arm movements.

Hibiki Ichikawa is a master of Tsugaru Shamisen (Japanese three-stringed instrument) and Akari Mochizuki is a professional Japanese folk and blues singer. Between them they have performed for the Japanese Embassy, Japan Matsuri, Hyper Japan and on BBC Radio 3. They will also be treating workshop attendees to a performance of some of their songs and music.
