'Our Day Out' is a fantastic programme, funded by the Spirit of 2012 Trust, which aims to engage older people in Norfolk with culture and creativity through participatory music and dance sessions, whilst in a dementia friendly environment. It runs twice a month in Dereham, Watton, Attleborough, North Walsham, Thetford and Wells-next-the-sea. Each month there is something new to experience. So far in the programme we have had African drumming, poetry performance and workshops, live music, cinema afternoons and more! The results of the programme are being evaluated using a nationally recognised wellbeing scale, and we have seen a proven increase in feelings of wellbeing and social connection, and a decrease in social isolation.

Our May sessions are being delivered by brilliant musicians Joe and Carl, who will lead our groups in explorative and reactive music-making sessions along the theme of Rock & Roll and Blues music! All of the sessions will be relaxed, fun, inclusive and engaging for all abilities, with no prior experience necessary. The sessions are about connecting with other people in the room, having fun and making music together, rather than learning instruments in a structured environment.

We are always looking for more people to join the fun, so if you are interested in coming along or would like to refer a friend, family member or loved one then please do get in touch on either 01953 713390 or by emailing [email protected]. The May session dates are below:
