About Who we are Staff Emma Whitehead Emma has been with Voluntary Arts Ireland since 2008, she has worked on a number of projects including the Art Take Part online arts activity search website and in a festival development role before becoming Development Officer. She provides support and guidance for voluntary arts groups and voluntary arts associations and also acts as a point of contact for local authorities wishing to strengthen their links with local groups and the voluntary arts sector as a whole. Emma is a textile artist with a professional practice, a market trader and social media manager for the traders of St George’s Market, Belfast and runs a gallery representing the work of local artists and craftspeople in County Down, Northern Ireland. She is a member and events and exhibitions manager of the Castle Ward Arts & Crafts Collective and one of the founder members of Write Down, a voluntary arts group that offers writers and poets a platform to read and perform their work. She is also member of The Textile Society and enjoys hand embroidery as part of her work and crochet for pure pleasure.
