Ricefield Arts explores Chinese arts and culture in Scotland through the delivery of arts and crafts workshops, by organising cultural events, producing exhibitions and running community engagement projects.

Based in Glasgow, the Centre has an ongoing programme of events in various venues, and is always on the look-out for volunteers to get involved.

In 2017, we sent poet Larry Butler to visit the staff and volunteers of Ricefield Arts, as part of our 'My Time' project.

He took part in a street parade, attended a tea and literature ceremony (pictured) then wrote his poem, which you can view in the My Time publication, here.

Here's what Larry had to say about Ricefield . . .

"From the moment I engaged with Ricefield Arts, I was encouraged, invited, cajoled into full participation: measured for a costume, I was dressed as a bell and danced through the streets of Glasgow with 20 other volunteers. The simplicity and clarity of the tea ceremony spoke to me beyond what words can describe. The silences between teas were magic. I will continue to be involved as a volunteer, offering a poetry workshop based on the Chinese tea ceremony."
