The Ropewalk is a combined arts centre situated in Barton upon Humber, a small rural market town in North Lincolnshire. Established in 2000 and managed by the Waterside Artists’ Co-operative (WAC) it is run as a not for profit organisation.

The Ropewalk was established at the turn of the millennium and is now a well-respected contributor to the arts scene in North Lincolnshire and along the Humber Estuary its standing was reinforced by acceptance for National Portfolio Organisation status by Arts Council England in 2012.

It provides extensive studio and exhibition space, a craft gallery, a small museum explaining the history of the building, as well as conference facilities and a performance venue seating up to 150 people. Since opening in April 2000, visitor numbers have steadily increased averaging 105,000 per annum for the last three years. 

Role description: The Waterside Artists’ Co-operative is seeking new voluntary members for its Advisory Board. As the Co-operative approaches its 20th anniversary, it is looking to strengthen its existing Board members’ knowledge, skills and expertise in a number of key areas by recruiting well connected and experienced individuals.

These are opportunities to make a real difference in the cultural makeup of the region and be part of a creative organisation. The Co-operative seeks to recruit board members from all backgrounds, ages and sections of the community. The purpose of The Ropewalk Advisory Board is to advise The Ropewalk senior management team on the development and potential of all aspects of our business, including the Coffee Shop, Ropery Hall, creative learning and artistic programme to advise on the development of fundraising, audience development, volunteer recruitment and marketing strategies to help support our business and to act as ambassadors for The Ropewalk’s work with cultural partners, communities and artists.
