Opportunities Arts jobs Artist Curator for Litmus Programme Area: PowysDeadline: 5pm, Wednesday 18 January 2017 An opportunity has arisen at Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, Powys for an emerging Artist Curator to develop and manage the Gallery’s new Litmus programme. Litmus is a 12-month programme of new artists' commissions, resulting in a minimum of 5 new exhibitions and related works, all of which will show at Oriel Davies between late spring 2017 and spring 2018. Oriel Davies is seeking an emerging creative practitioner with keen curatorial interest to develop and deliver Litmus. The aims of Litmus are to create new opportunities for emerging artists from Wales and the Borders to make innovative new artwork for public exhibition in one of Wales' leading galleries, supported by a strong programme of artist and curatorial professional development; support access and inclusivity and to develop and engage new audiences for the programme. The Artist Curator should ideally have a professional qualification in the arts and / or some proven track record in working with contemporary visual arts practice. This role offers enhanced curatorial professional development through on-site support and mentoring opportunities with the wider arts professional community within Wales. Applicants should be based in Wales or the Border counties. This is a Freelance Contract for up to 1 year, with a fee of £5000. The Litmus Artist Curator will work closely with staff at Oriel Davies. The Freelance Contract has been estimated at 25 days over the course of the year to plan, organise and deliver the Litmus programme and to include additional mentoring. The Freelance Fee is £5000 (daily fee £200 - including all travel expenses).
