Deadline: 25 September 2018, 12pm

Bazooka Arts is an arts charity specialising in therapeutic arts projects to improve health and well-being.

They are currently seeking a creative, motivated person with an enthusiastic, friendly approach to be their new Volunteer and Communications Co-ordinator.

In Autumn 2018 Bazooka will be launching 'Create & Connect', a new 3-year Big Lottery funded project that will provide a therapeutic arts programme to support adults adversely affected by social isolation, mental ill health, emotional loneliness and loss.

The project will provide a therapeutic arts programme to develop resilience for long term recovery, and strategies for making positive social connections within their community. To enhance this project Bazooka will run a parallel programme of volunteer -led ‘creative interest’ activities which the successful candidate will co-ordinate.

This will include supporting volunteers to run events such as ‘pop-up’ shops at local events exhibiting and selling artwork created by participant and volunteers. The Volunteer and Communications Co-ordinator will work closely with Directors and existing volunteers to develop and deliver this programme. They will also be expected to undertake some project administration and practical project tasks to assist with the smooth running of the Create and Connect programme.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate sensitively, effectively and appropriately with vulnerable client groups, support agencies, and the wider community. You will see the potential in everyone Bazooka works with and will work with an empowering approach.

You should have experience of working with vulnerable client groups, working closely with funders, voluntary and statutory organisations, be proficient in digital and social media, have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should also have existing PVG scheme membership or willingness to undergo PVG checks, a driving licence and occasional use of your own vehicle for events (mileage allowance for events outwith Coatbridge).

Experience of working in the arts and project management experience is also desirable, as is an understanding of issues surrounding mental health and well-being and knowledge of voluntary and community organisations and networks in Coatbridge.

Salary: £24,151 pro rata plus 2% pension. Hours: 20 hours per week – across 4 days preferred (can be flexible). Contract Type: Temporary (18 months fixed term with a view to renewal).
