Impact Arts is looking for a team of volunteers to create welcoming environments for older people in their communities, to help reduce isolation and develop creative opportunities.

Impact Arts has been connecting communities since 1994, using creativity and the arts to achieve social change, helping people and communities transform their lives through engagement with the arts. 

Over the past 5 years, Impact Arts has supported over 500 older people to access creative activities and would now like to support a team of Creative Ageing Volunteers to take this approach wider in to their own communities.

As a Creative Aging Volunteer, you should be over 18 years old and able to commit one day a week. You will receive training from a Volunteer Development Co-ordinator, a Creative Ageing Tutor and Impact Arts partners who will develop your talent and support you to deliver workshops and regular displays of the work created in your community.

In this role, you will be supported to gain new skills, make connections, and gain the confidence and knowledge to contribute to the development of your community.You will work towards becoming part of a wider network of Creative Volunteers who will be able to provide you with peer support, share plans, and help co-design programmes.

You can also choose to work towards achieving a Community Achievement Award and/or Arts Award as part of this programme and all necessary travel expenses will be reimbursed.

For this role, you should have the following qualities:

  • A keen interest in the arts and a desire to help others.
  • A qualification in an arts or a care related discipline would be desirable but is not essential.
  • A strong desire to make a positive and lasting change in your community and a particular interest in working with older people.
  • An open and accepting attitude to people from all backgrounds, as well as being approachable and empathetic and full of enthusiasm.
  • A genuine interest in making a lasting commitment to building the creative future of your community.
