Ambassador Theatre GroupArea: London
Deadline: Friday 18 October 2019

ATG (Ambassador Theatre Group) was founded in 1992 in the UK – it's grown into the world’s number one live-theatre company today. It covers every discipline in the theatre industry, from operating venues to ticketing platforms and producing shows. It is passionate about great shows and its ambition is to help them find the largest possible audiences.

ATG is looking for a creative education specialist to spearhead a large-scale outreach programme for Jamie Lloyds upcoming season, generously supported by British Airways. Creative Learning & Community Partnerships is a dynamic department which delivers a high quality programme of award winning cultural education which is locally driven, with national significance! Over the past year, the team have embarked on a new invigorated strategy, which is driven by focus on impact, innovation & communication.

British Airways is supporting a new West End season of work at the Playhouse Theatre by The Jamie Lloyd Company, the hugely successful partnership between the UK’s leading theatre company, Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), and Artistic Director Jamie Lloyd.

The Creative Learning & Community Partnerships Programme Director will lead the implementation of a new ground-breaking and exciting Outreach and Audience Development initiative in association with the season. The aim of this new initiative is to provide meaningful and targeted engagement to widen access to people from across London boroughs, who for various reasons would not be able to access performances in the West End, with the long term aim of laying foundations for a legacy that supports the work done by theatres & the wider cultural landscape, to cultivate the next generation of theatregoers. ATG deepens its commitment to making theatre more accessible by offering 15,000 free tickets to first-time theatregoers that are invited through this special outreach programme.

The first show of the season of Cyrano de Bergerac sees Jamie Lloyd and James McAvoy continue their long-standing collaboration following The Ruling Class and Macbeth at Trafalgar Studios, Three Days of Rain at Apollo Theatre and Heart of Darkness for BBC Radio 4. The production opens at Playhouse Theatre on 6 December, with previews from 27 November and runs until 29 February. In order to carry out this initiative, ATG is seeking an experienced cultural educationalist who will target schools and other groups who would genuinely benefit and who would work with them to curate their experience with a wraparound learning programme. This could include pre and post show talks, show themed workshops, or familiarisation activity that supports attendees to prepare for their visits.

The successful candidate will harness their intrinsic understanding of the needs, challenges and opportunities of the local community including the schools landscape and will deliver exemplar and specialist work, while applying their understanding of national education policy and key agenda. The successful candidate will communicate effectively on news and progress by interfacing with representatives from British Airways & key ATG colleagues. At this exciting time, ATG is seeking a passionate team member to lead the implementation of this ground-breaking and impactful initiative.

Contract terms: Fixed term part-time (24 hours per week) from November 2019 until September 2020 (10 months). Office hours are 10am - 7pm with regular work outside of these hours required to fulfil the duties outlined. ATG is happy to consider flexible working. Please note that all appointments will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks including references and a Disclosure and Barring Check. ATG is an equal opportunities employer.
