Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) is an internationally renowned centre for contemporary art that enables audiences, artists and participants to see, experience and create.

The Chair of DCA’s Board is responsible for the leadership of the Board ensuring that it meets all its legal obligations and for creating the conditions for effective governance of the overall Board, individual trustee performance, appropriate board composition and succession planning. 

The Chair will also provide guidance, support and mentoring to the Executive Director and is responsible for managing their performance on behalf of the board. The Chair is also required to act as an ambassador for DCA.

Person specification:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills i.e. listening, speaking, presenting and writing
  • Creative and strategic leadership and people management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance and board procedures, particularly legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities
  • General business, financial and risk management skills
  • Understanding of research and data analysis
  • Political sensitivity
  • Highly developed impact and influence
  • Ability to analyse complex data and risk
  • Strong experience of chairing Board and committee meetings
  • Experience working at Executive/Senior leadership level
  • Managing projects and change
  • Committed to championing the work of DCA
  • Passion for and some knowledge of contemporary arts and culture
