Galway has been chosen as European Capital of Culture 2020. Having come through the competition process successfully, the partners in the bid are in a transitional phase of establishing a Company to lead and deliver Capital of Culture 2020.

The CEO has lead executive responsibility for the management of the Company, the delivery of the Programme and the provision of appropriate structures to ensure a vibrant legacy for Galway, its strategic partners and Ireland as a whole. The CEO will be aware of the intentions and commitments of Galway 2020 as described in the final Bid Book (and subsequent amendments) as these form a contractual undertaking by Galway 2020 with the EU. The CEO will work closely with the non-executive Board of Directors of the Company to whom he/she shall be answerable in all matters. The CEO of Galway 2020 will lead the organisation in the delivery of a successful ECOC by enabling and supporting creative partnerships between businesses, individuals and the arts.

The CEO will develop, communicate and deliver on goals in support of the company’s mission; and through a strong personal communication style, will inspire others to commit to and support the organisation, driving growth and fundraising and continuing to build supporters of Galway 2020 through excellent networking abilities. With collaborative team management skills and financial and budgeting acumen, they will ensure that both financial and staff resources are utilised to maximum potential. The vision and drive of the Chief Executive Officer, will position the organisation strongly in media and the public sphere.

Salary: circa €120,000pa
