From singing and gardening to creative networking and bookbinding - granton:hub presents a lively programme of events that invite you to get creative in Granton, Edinburgh, this May.

granton:hub are a group of local volunteers on a mission to see the historic building of Madelvic House become a thriving venue for creativity and culture in the heart of Granton - an area which currently has little arts provision.

The May programme of events has been programmed in partnership with local artists, Granton heritage group - the history:hub and landscape architects Here + Now, with events ranging from workshops and drop-in activities to exhibitions and informal meet-ups.

All ticketed events offer a 20% discount for those who are retired, students or in receipt of benefits, with the aim to make activities affordable and accessible.

Free events in the May programme include:

  • Creative Conversations - 10 May 8.30-10.30am / 30 May 4.30-6.30pm, An opportunity for creative folk in and around Granton to get-together and network, share ideas, make connections and start conversations over a cuppa.

  • Bookbinders Meetup - 18 May, 6-8pm, An opportunity for people who like to make books, to meetup and share ideas, inspiration and make together, over an all important cuppa.

  • granton:hub Community Gardening Sessions - 10, 15, 20 May (times vary, see link for details), A chance to meet other members of the local community and help create a thriving community garden in the heart of Granton.

  • 'Back to the future' - 7, 14, 21, 28 May, 12-2pm, An exhibition curated by local Heritage group, the history:hub, featuring original photos and artefacts from collections and individuals in North Edinburgh.
