Festival 2018 is a dynamic cultural festival being developed to run alongside the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, taking place from 2-12 August 2018. Artists, arts organisations and the cultural sector in Scotland are now being invited to send in proposals for new and inspiring work which responds to the themes, strands and values of Festival 2018.

Festival 2018 will include cultural activities and performances in the following locations, applicants are asked to consider where their proposal will be best placed:

  • Festival 2018 sites - George Square and Merchant City, as part of Merchant City Festival
  • Communities across Glasgow
  • National partner local authority areas - East Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh, North Lanarkshire, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, Perth & Kinross, Stirling and West Dunbartonshire.

The Festival 2018 Fund will support ideas that produce imaginative, high quality, public facing projects that take place in Glasgow and/or host partner areas.

All proposals must demonstrate how they fit with a minimum of four of the Championships values, detailed in the Festival 2018 Fund guidelines (link below).

3 funding levels have been identified and are now open for applications:

Level 1 / Small awards of £5,000 and £10,000
• For small-scale, public-facing projects developed and led by arts organisations and/or artists
• Proposals to Level 1 must demonstrate a fit with at least one of the Strategic Themes or Cultural Strands.

Level 2 / Medium awards of £10,000 and £25,000 
• For medium-scale, public-facing projects developed and led by arts organisations and/or artists
• Proposals to Level 2 must demonstrate a fit with at least one of the Strategic Themes and at least one of the Cultural Strands
• Proposals to Level 2 must demonstrate enhanced impact in terms of audiences or participation.

Level 3 / Large awards of £25,000 - £50,000
• For large-scale, public-facing projects developed and led by arts organisations and/or artists
• Proposals to Level 3 must demonstrate a fit with at least one of the Strategic Themes and at least one of the Cultural Strands
• Proposals to Level 3 must demonstrate enhanced impact in terms of audiences, participation numbers and/or spectacular moments with high PR value.
