Govan HELP is a small, locally based family education support charity, established in 1996, that aims to improve the educational attainment, life chances and opportunities for vulnerable children and families living within the Govan area.

They offer a range of integrated, early intervention services to support both children and their wider families who are experiencing multiple disadvantages. Services include: Family Support, Children’s Therapeutic Services (Play Therapy), Children’s Befriending, Adult Learning, Volunteering, Healthy Mornings Project with Walking Buses and Enhanced Breakfast Club provision and Adult Counselling.

The Healthy Morning project was set up to give children at Riverside and St Saviours primary schools a healthy and nurturing start to their day, with a walking bus and an enhanced breakfast club.

Govan HELP is recruiting volunteers to run arts and crafts activities with the children between 8am and 9am weekdays during term time with an extra hour per week at the volunteer’s convenience for planning.

They can be flexible about the number of days and length of commitment and they offer PVG checks, training for working with children in a community development setting, and regular support and supervision to progress on to further volunteering, study or employment.
