Custom House, in Leith, Edinburgh, is becoming a bustling centre for creative industries serving the local community. The Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) is now calling for proposals on how the space inside the building can be utilised for short term community projects.

SHBT is a charity and Building Preservation Trust that manages Custom House in Leith. Many spaces inside the building are currently let out to creative industries, allowing the SHBT to make modest investments in the fabric of the building and undertake a full feasibility study for the long term future of the site. This will culminate in a major capital project to restore the building to its former glory.

To support this long-term vision, SHBT is inviting local community groups to submit a proposal for activities that will:

  • Engage the local population
  • Deliver a community benefit
  • Promote the economic revival of the area
  • Support local services
  • Enhance our understanding of the building

Proposals are sought for one-off events and/or programmes lasting up to two weeks.

Deadline for applications: 31 January 2017.
