Leith Festival is a week-long community event held in June, celebrating creativity and culture.

The Festival is looking for a Volunteer Steward to provide a point of contact between Pageant participants and Leith Festival organisers.

At over a century old, Leith Festival is one of Edinburgh’s oldest festivals welcoming residents, and visitors alike to celebrate Leith in all its diversity. Volunteers play a huge role in ensuring the success of the festival every year and Leith Festival is committed to making sure festival volunteers have a positive and satisfying experience.

This year Leith Festival takes place from 9-17 June and those keen to volunteer are asked to get in touch as soon as possible to register their interest.

Responsibilities of the Volunteer Steward role include working with the Leith Festival volunteer team to:

  • Direct Stallholders
  • Keep traffic moving through the links
  • Greet and direct visitors throughout the event
  • Litter pick throughout the day
  • Assist the stage manager
  • Assist stallholders with closing
  • Clean up at end of the day
  • Help at the Leith Festival Marquee
  • Provide a point of contact between Pageant participants and Leith Festival organisers
  • Take bucket donations

Travel expenses and a lunch voucher for 4+hours on event days will be covered.

This is a customer facing role that involves relaying information between a variety of community groups and participants - the right candidate will be a friendly and welcoming team player with a passion for Leith.

If you wish to continue volunteering after the event there will be opportunities to do so as part of the year-round Leith Festival community engagement programme.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Barbara Kerr at [email protected] or 0131 629 1214.

To apply, fill in the volunteer registration form here.
