Opening Doors: Fanfare & Procession Music Opening Doors is an art and music project in collaboration with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Wall2Wall Music and Voluntary Arts Ireland to make new music and art with local people from Ballymena, Larne, Carrick and surrounding areas taking place between April and September 2018. What is involved? This could be the most fun you have as a musician in a few days. From scratch with a group of musicians brought together from across the borough and across musical genre and tradition we will create a new fanfare and processional piece of music for the final performance in September 2018. The music will link the three movements of the new commission by Sarah Murphy and Colin Hassard that will be performed in three venues by leading audience and musicians between the venues. Who is it for? Open to all aged 16 - 60+ in the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area who play a musical instrument that can be played while walking/processing and/or sing. We welcome any genre of music and background. As you will be creating the music and performing it it is vital you are free for the final performance scheduled for either 22nd or 29th September When does it happen and where?* A series of workshops for fanfare/procession and rehearsal recording will take place in the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area between April, May and June 2018. *Event location and dates are still to be confirmed.
