Area: Glasgow
Deadline: 29 January 2018

Festival 2018, the cultural programme for the Glasgow 2018 European Championship, is investing £60,000 in community groups across Glasgow who want to create cultural events and arts activities which celebrate the people and talent in their local area.

The 'Our Place' fund has grants of between £100 - £5,000 for groups who provide opportunities for people to get together and celebrate our diverse communities and places.

You might want to hold a family fun day for little ones and their parents or guardians. Other ideas might involve working with local groups to put on art workshops, concerts or street theatre events.

Applications to produce ambitious and diverse cultural events and activities are invited from community groups and can involve all art-forms including music, carnival, visual art, theatre, dance, film, literature and performance.

Once the deadline has passed, it will be up to the people of Glasgow to decide which activities they would like to see on their doorstep. Residents will be able to vote online and in person for their favourite proposals to help shape Glasgow 2018’s cultural programme.

Glasgow 2018 is the biggest sporting event to take place in Scotland since the best ever Commonwealth Games and aims to unite sport and culture throughout the Championships from 2 to 12 August 2018.

Festival 2018 will run alongside the sporting action and into many parts of Scotland, to offer an exciting cultural experience to residents and the thousands of athletes, visitors and media who will be in Scotland for the first-ever European Championships.
