Prestwich Arts Festival (PAF) has been developed by a small, local, talented and dedicated team of volunteers who have come together to develop an annual arts festival that will enhance and promote art and culture in the town of Prestwich. A key aim of PAF is to lift the lid on local talent and to deliver opportunities for people to get involved, give access to a diverse programme of arts activities and increase the range and engagement of audiences, through staging a range of fun and compelling events.

The Festival strives to:

  • Connect the community through art, bringing people together, sharing our stories and showcasing talents;
  • Build on the momentum and support for PAF created so far;
  • Combine high-profile, inspirational outdoor events with local participation;
  • Develop site-specific performances and activities at locations which showcase the lesser known, unique and unusual places and green spaces in Prestwich;
  • Commission exemplary new work with our key partners and collaborators;
  • Create new opportunities for developing and established local, regional and international artists;
  • Incorporate artistic activities that fully exploit the unique stories of our diverse community.

The inaugural Prestwich Arts Festival will be a 4-day festival in late September, with the delivery of a number of small events leading up to the festival where the focus will be to pilot some activities, raise awareness of the festival and increase engagement with the arts through inclusive and accessible events across a range of disciplines, the majority of which will be free and unrestricted.

Throughout the rest of the programme, PAF will work with partner and commissioned organisations to present a programme of events and exhibitions in a variety of venues (both indoor and outdoor) across Prestwich. The PAF Board are looking to appoint one or more volunteer Creative Producers for the 2018 Prestwich Arts Festival to take on some of the role detailed below.

The purpose of the role(s) is to:

1. Work with the Prestwich Arts Festival team to source, contract, commission and programme the festival content in accordance with funder’s and Festival Steering Group recommendations and requirements;
2. To be responsible for preparing and producing written contracts for Festival commissions and events. To produce contracts for artists, performers and service providers within agreed procedures and funding criteria set by stakeholders;
3. Work with the Prestwich Arts Festival team in the planning and delivery of all festival events;
4. To work with our PR and marketing volunteers to support the plan for distribution of all publicity material.

In addition to the above, the post holder(s) will:

1. Work within PAF to provide logistical coordination and events management at several events across the four-day festival;
2. Be responsible for ensuring risk assessments are undertaken and that all health and safety requirements are adhered to;
3. Produce written documentation for the safety and welfare of the public at Prestwich Arts Festival including the production and delivery of the event management plan;
4. Act as artist liaison;
5. Be responsible for agreeing all technical requirements and costings for PAF events, and to liaise with companies for submission of tenders for the technical specs relating to events;
6. Work with our Treasurer to procure all services in line with any funder’s financial regulations and to monitor and manage the budget accordingly;
7. Be responsible for overseeing the set up and delivery of PAF projects and venues and where appropriate engage specialist technicians;
8. Attend events where technical support is required and to oversee the safety, security and risk management plan;
9. Work with Bury Council on the safety management and deliver of any PA activities on their land;
10. Liaise with council departments, venues and artists to 10. Ensure correct documentation is produced to cover all health and safety and licensing requirements;
11. Work with the PAF team to undertake and evaluate the success of the event collating feedback throughout the 4-day festival period.
12. There will be a requirement to work some weekends and evenings festival set up.
13. You will be expected to attend monthly PAF Board meetings and as the festival progress this may increase to 2 meetings per month. (2 hours max per meeting) to be held in Prestwich.
14. Access to a computer will be required.
