Having opened as a brand new primary academy in 2012, The Robert Fitzroy Academy continues to grow and now has established itself as a ‘Good with Outstanding features’ School (Ofsted, July 2014), in beautifully refurbished school buildings.

The school has worked hard during these formative years to establish its ethos and core values resulting in happy, vibrant learning environment where children are motivated to achieve. This role represents a fantastic opportunity. You will join the academy in its sixth year and work alongside a committed and supportive team of professionals to help build on its excellent reputation and thus have a real impact on the overall development of the school.

Robert Fitzroy Academy is looking to attract individuals who have a passion for art & design. You may be looking to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification. The role is offered on a voluntary basis and you must be able to commit to at least 2 days per week for one full term, (including half term week).

Your role will be to support the specialist art teacher and the visual coordinator in ensuring:

  • The school branding and high standards of presentation are consistently followed.
  • Displays are updated and always positively presented.
  • Display areas around the school are kept neat and tidy on a weekly basis
  • Visual information is gathered from around the school which can be used to create social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and You Tube.
  • The Art Teacher is supported in class with preparation of teaching resources and the art room environment
  • You become an integral part of the school support workforce and support the ethos of the

In particular successful candidates should have:

  1. GCSE Grade C or above in Art & Design based subjects and/or a portfolio of art & design work
  2. An interest and basic knowledge of how to use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube and other social media channels
  3. Working towards a qualification in Further or Higher Education in an aspect of the visual arts.
  4. Enthusiasm and dedication to developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, mentoring and guidance
  5. A commitment to promoting and fostering good relationships between children and with parents and colleagues

You should be:

  1. Forward thinking and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the school
  2. Able to promote the warm, caring and friendly ethos of the school to pupils, parents and the general public
  3. Able to perform under pressure
  4. Confident to use your own initiative when required
  5. A Team player
  6. Enthusiastic

Salary: Voluntary. Lunch will be provided on the days you work (except for the half term week) and you will be provided with a travel card for your travel to and from school.
Hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm (negotiable)
