Area: Glasgow
Deadline: 28 January 2020

Southside Film is looking for new volunteers to help plan its next film festival.

Southside Film is a community interest organisation run by a small group of passionate volunteers who love film and want to do something positive in their community.

The organisation programmes and produces 'pop up' film screenings and events in various non cinema spaces in the Southside of Glasgow throughout the year. Their events simply wouldn’t happen without the support and hard work of their team of volunteers.

They are currently looking for new volunteers to help with monthly screenings and plan the next Southside Film Festival, specifically volunteers with the following:

  • An interest in programming film screenings and events
  • An interest in graphic design and a knowledge of inDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator
  • An interest in press and digital marketing and a desire to get experience in writing web and social media updates, blogging, film reviewing or writing press releases and marketing materials
  • A desire to get experience in video projection and technical assistance for screenings
  • An interest in funding applications and development
  • An interest in event logistics/production
  • An interest in photography and filmmaking including digital camera work and editing
  • A desire to get Front of House and customer service experience.

Southside Film strives to provide a good volunteering experience which is both worthwhile and fun, and volunteering with them is a great way to gain experience working in a film and events environment with a community focus, to meet new people and to see new films.

Southside Film covers local travel expenses to and from screenings (within Glasgow) and other reasonable expenses. You can view their Volunteer and Equal Opportunities policies on their website.

No previous festival or events experience is necessary but a committed, friendly and professional attitude is essential.

If you are interested in volunteering with them then please send an email to: [email protected] with 'Volunteering' in the subject line.

Please provide a CV and covering email statement detailing what you would be interested in, any relevant experience (if applicable) and your contact details (email and mobile).
