Trans-Dancers and Trans-Performers for Transgender-Dance-Show

Transparence Theatre is seeking highly skilled transgender performers, singers, dancers, acrobats, actors, musicians, models for a new theatre project in Europe with an show-opening in a Theatre Lüneburg in Northern-Germany in June 2019. Candidates must have strong artistic abilities and personalities. 

About the show

Professional educated transgender performers experience numerous problems getting a job in the entertainment industry. Based on true stories the show will be an innovation for current and contemporary dance-theatre.

In a world premiere, the team will tell a story about finding love in a gendered world. Having a look at what identifies us. What is typical male or female? What does gender mean to us? How can we find non-gendered love? It will be a professional contemporary show, based on the skills of each performer. The show will be developed and built around successful applicants.

Requirements

  • Transgender
  • Professional training in arts (dance, performing, singing, instrument, acrobatic, acting, etc)
  • Strong style and technique
  • Professional experience necessary (at least professional training) 
  • Strong stage presence, excellent interpretation skills and ability to move the audience
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Aged 21 or older
  • Working knowledge of English

Auditions will be held just after invitation. At the moment the team is mainly looking for European transgender artists. But feel free to apply if you live outside the EU Border. 

Contracts begin with a development and rehearsal period in Germany. Contracts of various lengths will follow on a freelance basis depending on the amount of shows being produced. They are currently investigating funding for their national and international projects. The company is offering a full paid contract of average wage for every cast member including competitive pay and additional benefits.

On stage the team only work with trans-identified and non-binary performers, but cisgender allies are welcome to join the team.
