Voluntary Arts ScotlandArea: Scotland
Deadline: Tuesday 31 July 2018

Voluntary Arts Scotland champions and supports thousands of local voluntary arts groups across Scotland. Working with a network of national voluntary arts umbrella bodies, Voluntary Arts Scotland provides a single national voice for the diverse voluntary arts sector.

Having successfully secured an increase in funding from Creative Scotland, Voluntary Arts Scotland is now looking to recruit this new position to complement its existing team based in Edinburgh.

An excellent opportunity for the right candidate to help Voluntary Arts Scotland make significant progress towards its strategic aims and objectives, you will be working in partnership with Creative Scotland to support and champion the arts in Scotland. The focus of the Scottish Government on participation and engagement, in relation to Scottish culture and identity, makes this a particularly existing time to join Voluntary Arts Scotland.

This new role is about connecting Voluntary Arts Scotland to people and place.

Are you passionate about equality of access and inclusion in Scotland’s diverse cultures? Have you the patience, flexibility, energy and enthusiasm to seek out and advocate for everyday creative cultural activity that may be out of the spotlight of other nationally-funded arts organisations and venues? Are you a natural at relationship development- keeping in touch with people and working in partnership to identify developmental needs, networking opportunities and signposting? Can you prioritise where to make most impact in a large and varied sector? If so, this is the role for you.

The post-holder will focus on identifying voluntary arts activity that is not part of the more traditional structure of so-called umbrella bodies such as guilds, associations and membership organisations. We want to better understand the development needs of informal networks, how we can we best include them in our guidance to the sector and what we in turn can learn from participants that we can share with others.
