News & Opportunities Funding Young Placechangers Ideas Fund Do you want to improve your local park or green space? Create new places to play or hang out? Clean up your street and involve others? Create an exhibition to celebrate the history of your area? Then the Young Placechangers Ideas Fund could be for you. The Fund supports youth groups to engage with others in their communities to take action to improve the environmental quality, biodiversity, playability and vibrancy of neighbourhoods. Young Placechangers are young people between the ages of 12-25 who want to change their local environment for the better. This could be their local greenspace, street, community centre garden, whole village, neighbourhood or town. The Young Placechangers lead community placemaking projects in their local communities. The Ideas Fund has two funding levels: Seedcorn funding: Groups can apply for up to £500 to get started on their projects – engage with the wider community and develop their ideas. Successful applicants will have 3 months from the date of their grant offer to spend and submit a short report on the awarded funding. Funded groups will receive their grant in full at the start of their project. Ideas Fund: Groups can apply for up to £3000 to involve their local community to further develop their idea and deliver changes on the ground. The Ideas Fund will support physical improvement of spaces (with the landowner’s permission), as well as event programmes (outdoor play, bioblitz etc.) and sessional staff/youth worker costs where appropriate. You can apply to the Ideas Fund at any time. Seed corn grant applications for up to £500 are awarded at a rolling basis. However, there are set points when Ideas Fund applications (up to £3,000) are reviewed and awarded. Current deadlines: 28 February and 4 June 2019 For more information, visit the Greenspace Scotland website.
