Opportunities Training Your Festival, Your Community Date: Friday 27 & Saturday 28 April 2018Location: Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling 'Your Festival, Your Community' is a free event and awards scheme coordinated by Regional Screen Scotland that aims to connect local film festivals from across Scotland to share learning and celebrate good practice. Awards: a special awards event at Macrobert Arts Centre on Friday 27 April will recognise and celebrate the achievements of local film festivals and the communities that support them. There are five categories now open for nominations: Best Guest: who created a real buzz by: introducing a film, taking part in a Q&A, leading a workshop, or just being part of the festival scene? Most Surprising Location: from harbours to lighthouses, gable ends to living rooms, festivals are forever finding innovative new ways to screen films: has your festival found the most surprising location to screen a film yet? Extra Mile Volunteer: volunteers are the backbone of local film festivals: who has put in that extra mile to make your festival special and how have they done it? Biggest Surprise Hit: which film (short or feature) proved to be a surprise hit with your festival audience? Most Supportive Partner: a sponsor or a venue, a school or a local radio station—which festival partner has done most to make your festival special? To make a nomination to this awards scheme, visit the Regional Screen Scotland website and complete a nomination form by 5pm Friday 23 March. Sharing event: join Regional Screen Scotland and film festival organisers from across Scotland on Saturday 28 April for a day of learning, sharing and networking, with panel events and workshops catering to the priorities and experiences of the wide variety of local film festivals in Scotland and the rest of the UK. The day will include discussions on how to create a sustainable and meaningful film festival, with workshops offering the opportunity to explore the development of your film festival, or how to go about setting one up. Both events are open to local film festival organisers and people interested in setting up or supporting local film festivals.
